National guidelines
1. Purpose
The scheme is intended to be a means of preventing isolation and thereby contributing to an increased quality of life for the disabled person. The companion certificate scheme covers people with disabilities, normally of at least 2-3 years' duration.
2. Disability
Disability is understood as a mismatch between the individual's abilities and the environment's and society's demands for functioning in areas that are essential for establishing and maintaining independence and social existence.
3. Companion
A companion is someone who assists the disabled person at all times so that they can achieve the purpose of the scheme.
4. Companion certificate
A companion certificate is a document in the form of a card issued to a disabled person. The companion certificate shall give the disabled person's companion free access to public cultural and leisure events as well as public means of transport that the disabled person would not be able to participate in/use without assistance. The companion certificate is issued free of charge by the applicant's municipality of residence.
Companion certificate in Valdres Alpine Center
Companion certificate is a scheme that gives disabled people the opportunity to have a companion at no extra cost at public cultural and leisure events, or at places/events that receive financial support from the municipality.
Valdres Alpinsenter AS is a privately owned company and does not receive any support from the municipality for this scheme. We are therefore not bound by any agreement regarding companion certificates. However, companions can purchase day passes (not season and multi-day passes) at 1/2 price from us, provided that the person who needs a companion purchases a pass at the regular price and presents a valid companion certificate at the ticket office.
